Machine Robo is a classic transforming robot series. Initially they are just toys with no story. They are then developed to an anime series called: "Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos" in 80s and later there is also an anime series in US called: "Gobots" were based on the same toys robots. This is quite exciting that when Action Toys announce the idea to remaster the Machine Robo series. Are they good or just memories? let's check it out.

In Action Toys first wave release there are four different robots: Bike Robo, Rod Drill, Eagle Robo and Battle Robo. I will focus on Rod Drill here as he is one of the important characters in the anime "Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos".

First impression, Rod Drill is looks great, good scale and proportion. Articulation is also up to standard. Rod Drill can place many cool pose. Transformation is simple but still nice, easy to handle. There is a longer drill for vehicle purpose which is not necessary but a nice touch.

Rod Drill's design is great, but the product quality do let it down. The plastic quality is bad, looks week and cheap. This is just like a good design with a bad QC. This is really disappointing and also quite a common problems in Action Toys product.

The rebirth of Machine Robo series is great. Thanks to Action Toys to bring up this idea with some good design too. But the final product quality is up to standard. Just hope Action Toys can do better in the feature release and not wasting the good design.
